James is a sculptor who works extensively in stone, terracotta, plaster, cast resins and metals.

Stone sculptures in the warm colours and wonderful textures of Cotswold stone are one of the hallmarks of his work.

He is also a painter in oils, with many of his canvasses concerned with the same themes as his statues, betraying a sculptor's eye for line and form.
